Responsibilities Include:
- Responsibilities across functional lines with individuals assigned in new program development and/or maintenance of existing mobile, WEB, Cloud, server, and/or distributed computing systems.
- Competent to perform Spring Boot and development assignments without close supervision; normally assigned the more complex aspects of systems work.
- Build new backend microservices using Sprint Boot framework leveraging out of the box components as well as extending/customizing where necessary to meet business needs.
- Works directly on complex application/technical problem identification and resolution, including responding to off-shift and weekend support calls.
- Works on complex systems or infrastructure components that may be used by one or more applications or systems under mentorship of Lead and Senior developer.
- Drives application development focused around delivering business valuable features.
- Maintains high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
- Communicate with others to help direct development, debugging, and testing of application software for accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness.
- Performs integrated testing and customer acceptance testing of components that requires careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results.
- Employee is also responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.
- Typical customers include Caterpillar customers, dealers, other external companies who purchase services offered by Caterpillar as well as internal business unit and/or service centre groups.
- Collaborate with project leads, senior developers and testers.

- Position requires a four-year degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
- 3+ years of software development experience.
- 1+ years of experience in working with Java Sprint boot framework.
Top candidates will also have p roven experience in many of the following:
- Hands on Experience with Spring Boot framework and OSGi specification.
- Strong knowledge of micro-service logging, monitoring, debugging, and testing.
- Strong proficiency in Java programming language.
- Knowledge of RESTful web services and API development.
- Knowledge of markup languages such as JSON and YML.
- Interconnecting microservices with databases.
- Implementations experience in micro-service integration, packaging, build automation, and deployment.
- Understanding of software development principles and methodologies.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with other developers and stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Familiarity with database technologies such as MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL or equivalent
- Knowledge of how streaming systems such as Kafka operate.
- Working knowledge of quality and security scan technologies such as Sonar, Fortify, and WebInspect or equivalent.
- Knowledge of the Agile approach.
